training to support shared decision making, safe transitions of care, and
optimal recovery from breast cancer surgery. This 56-page guide includes
full-color images in full color and meets health literacy guidelines. Each
section includes a link to corresponding video content.

Developed by experts from the ACS Patient Education Committee, the National
Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), and the Commission on Cancer
(CoC), the program discusses:
- Breast anatomy
- Imaging and biopsy
- Breast cancer and staging
- Breast cancer surgery - including reconstruction
- Pre- and postoperative preparation
- Complication prevention (e.g., surgical site infection, deep vein
thrombosis, pneumonia, lymphedema, pain management)
- Chemo/radiation therapy and other treatment
- Drain care skills education and drain measurement log
- Exercise program and log
- Skills checklists
- Treatment summary and survivorship care plan
